A fm2+ board or am3+ is more futureproof.I'm stuck between a fx 6300 or Athlon x4 750k

I would say AM3+ because the CPUs are more powerful. Even though it is a dead socket it will last longer.

The 6300 is better but the 750K is cheaper.

Depends because you could probably use the extra money from the 750K for upgrades.

Well, from what I heard they aren't going to making anymore CPUs on that platform.

I am not sure AMD will do with the AM3+.

Cpus don't degrade in performance...at least they shouldn't in any short amount of time.

Nothing is 'future proof'. Components can last 1-4 years, but can never forever. 

This is if you want to keep up with new technology that comes out each year.

so I guess I'll probably get the fx and have for five years and just upgrade the gpu

Get the most powerful system you can afford today. That is the only thing that will aid in longevity. By the time you are ready to upgrade a cpu, motherboard technology will have advanced to the point that you'll want, if not need to replace it as well.
