In-Line Res or Not?

Hey,

I have seen water cooling loops setup both ways. One way with a waterblock dumping water into the res. The other way (probably more common way) is having the waterblock going into a T fitting under the res. (res on top, pump on bottom, waterblock connected to the horizontal port.) For the loop I am thinking about building the latter would be easier, but the former would have more benefit as it gets air out of the loop faster.

my prefrance is the res above the pump cant get air into the pump when its on it can damage it

Yep res above the pump if you want to avoid the pump having a premature death.

You must not understand, both ways the res is above the pump. One way the fluid is being dumped into the res, the other is having the res sitting on top of a T fitting. Directly below that fitting is the pump, but the fluid being circulated never goes into the res.

Here are some diagrams I made in paint, I only used straight lines so some of the tubing looks weird, nor do I know if it is the optimal path, but hopefully it will explain better the in-loop res.
