Jump to content

Use a flat tip screwdriver or a plastic card like a credit card to gently pry it away from the cooler. If it's a PGA CPU like AMD Ryzen and FX/Phenom/Athlon then it's not a big deal if the pins are straight. If it's a LGA chip like all Intel CPUs since Core 2, you're in bigger trouble :P as you'd have to wreck the entire retention mechanism.

hold the cpu cooler tight, carefully grab the stuck cpu on two opposite sides and slowly turn like unscrewing... not with too much pressure, but slowly increasing until it gets unstuck.

Next time if you remove your cpu cooler don't pull it away from the board but rather twist it until it comes lose

asuming you didnt use thermal adhesive, then it should just come of.

 

If its really stuck on there (but agina not glued) then heating it up will help. Reinsert the CPU properly and run the PC, cpu stress test/bench program would help, then turn if of and immediatly take it of.
