Looking for a new PSU

rio2

Hi all,

I'm looking for a new power supply for my system (specs in my signature), my budget is around 100-150$ and I want a PSU that would last at least 5 years. I'm not really familiar with current PSU brands and models as I haven't looked into them much since 2013 when I bough my current PSU which blew sadly yesterday. Do you have any good recommendations?

Take a look here: Anything Tier 3 or above is what is generally recommended for gaming.

I need a bit more than just "recommended for gaming" as this is basically a 24/7 running system that I also use for other (more demanding) stuff.

Then get a Tier 1 or 2. These are the best of the best of power supplies out there in terms of components that they use. Its not just for gaming, its an overall rating based on the components used to make up the circuitry, capacitors etc inside.

All PSUs from any decent brand are rated to run at a 100% load 24/7 at their max rated temperature for the entirety of their warranty. Just get a PSU with a ≥5 year warranty.

The 1700 system in your signature?

A Corsair TX550M would work fine, as would a Seasonic Focus Plus Gold, Bitfenix Whisper, or RM550x, if you want to spend a bit more.

|PSU Tier List /80 Plus Efficiency| PSU stuff if you need it.

My system: PCPartPicker || For Corsair support tag @Corsair Josephor @Corsair Nick || My 5MT Legacy GT Wagon ||

Yes the 1700 system and in the end I went with a Corsair RM750x, because I found it on sale for just ~15$ more than RM650x which for some reason costs exactly the same as RM550x in most stores here.

1. Nobody knows how long a PSU will last. It is just comes down to being lucky/unlucky...

2. Depending on availability something like Bitfenix Whisper M or be quiet Straight Power 11 550W or maybe even 450W is a good idea.
