I would like some advice on what to do.

I am running a 6700k @ 4.2ghz 1.20v Adaptive.

Case: NZXT 630 Filters Inplace

Cooler: H100I GTX

Are the following temps fine

Idle

CPU: 25c

Coolant: 28c

Stress Test RealBeanch 2 Hours

CPU: 74c

Coolant: 40c

The radiator is set up to push air from within the case through the radiator.

I removed the filter and this was the results after 2 hours of RealBeanch

CPU: 71c

Coolant: 37.5c

that's a 240mm right? you're really getting 70C? but you're barely overclocking. this seems odd, you either got bamboozled by the silicon thickness (what everyone is blaming on the TIM even though it's not) or you cooler mounting isn't quite right (including thermal paste application and coverage in this).

I think it's more the first option, but it's worth trying before deliding

  • GPU
    Zotac RTX 3070 OC
  • Case
    kind of a mess
  • Storage

  • PSU
    corsair RM750X white

Temps sound about normal to me. If you want to improve your temperatures, you will probably need to delid (which is because of the TIM identity, as opposed to the thickness - i always re-lid my delidded CPUs with similar silicon thickness). Anyway, no point arguing what it is in delidding that helps, the conclusion remains the same.

Your temps sound about correct for skylake.

welcome to the Linus Tech Tips forums!

do not run synthetic benchmarks on ADAPTIVE VOLTAGE mode.

when in that mode, the voltages are overcompensating for the load.

help? faster fans, yes, but not dropping them by 5°-10° if that's what you mean.

the stock fans prolly would do the same or better at full speed, but doubtful the ears would approve.

try working applications or games to 'verify' thermal ideas over using synthetics due to adaptive voltage mode. otherwise, just use manual mode if synthetics are your concern.

max coolant temp is 55°-60°.

What is the highest voltage you get in game? Adaptive voltage could be pushing it higher than 1.20v.

I'm not sure myself if the IHS paste on a Skylake cpu could be bad enough to have 68c, its still a safe temp but doesn't leave you much room for a higher oc.

Corsair link is reporting the Vcore is hitting a max of 1.28v
