Monitor your temperatures. You can use some program like OpenHWMonitor, just keep it open while gaming and quickly switch to it when the drops occur (or make it plot the history of temps so you can check afterwards). Some component may be getting too warm while playing.

any suggestions

Make sure you are placing your laptop on a surface that doesn't block any air intakes or exhausts. Also check that any cooling options are maxed out (balanced power plans or while running off battery will lead laptops to economize on fan rpm). If that's already the case, you may need to lower game settings, or perhaps considering some external cooling solution (like a cooling stand or a blower attachment, although I've never tried the latter nor know if it's good for internal fans to force airflow like that).

Holy crap those are bad temps!

Considering the fact that your GPU is also at that high of a temp, I wouldn't suspect the thermal paste.

You probably just have a dust bunny that's literally the size of a bunny in there :P

Pick up one or two air cans and dust it out while being sure to hold it upright, not shake the can, and only use small bursts since liquid can come out if you just hold it down willy nilly..

If that happens by accident, just give it an hour or two to evaporate before starting it up again.

Also, check to see if ifixit has a guide for you laptop so you can disassemble it and really clean it out.

It's really easy to break a laptop taking it apart though. They're not easy to get back together so don't do that without a guide and the right tools.

It couldn't hurt to go into the bios and see if you can set a more aggressive fan curve and then using overclocking software like MSI afterburner to make a more aggressive GPU fan curve as well.

Just don't OC anything with temps like that!

You can use speedfan or hwinfo to increase the speed of the fans on board if your chipset is compatible with these programs.

But I would invest in some good thermal paste as others have suggested and replace it

And also what stateofpsychosis said, there is most likely a lot of dust inside, I found a wad of what looked like dryer lint in my Alienware once, it was literally half an inch thick..

If so, you might have to consider that your fan can be dying from being strangled to death by dust and what not.

It might not be, but I would start by tearing down the laptop and cleaning all the dust from it, then seeing if the fans spin up at full speed properly (assuming you know what properly is in your specific case), if they are going a little slow then they might need to be replaced.

if that doesn't fix it, you need to replace the paste for sure, although depending on how old the computer is, it might be a good idea to replace the paste anyhow.
