Question regarding scrapyard wars!!!!!!

So, I was watching scrapyard wars and saw that every participant(in all seasons) is able to use the internet in public places without inserting any kind of data card. How were they accessing internet, was it like public wifi or mobile data tethering?

Mcdonalds and starbuck, and other places similar often offer free wifi. Data cards are very outdated.

Some do offer wifi, that could have been tethering, like how theyre web browsing in the car. Linus did mention in a phone review about the s8 active i think, that he used it for tethering and its bettery life was really noice.

Have you seen how Linus uses a hammer?

brake cleaner and wd40 is no where to be seen around him

 

I bet they are using free wifi from commercial entities like Starbucks or the Shaw service of public wifi

In my country the whole city is covered with free wifi, you just have to remeber that free wifi=unsafe wifi. Also wtf is a data card, does it look like AOL free 500 hours internet DVD?
