I'm sure we can all relate to our electronics getting dirty when using them after several weeks, months, and years. I own a variety of electronics, such as a PC, laptop, phone, and multiple gaming consoles. I've been in search of the best and most effective way to actually clean them. Sure, I can use a cleaning solution that costs about $13, but there are all sorts of varieties, and I'm not sure how well they work. I would probably prefer a homemade solution, you know, something cheaper, but if that doesn't clean my devices the way I want them to, then I'm fine with spending a couple of extra bucks. I mainly just want to know would clean my devices the best way possible, doesn't really matter if it's homemade or not. Usually when I search this stuff on how to clean devices, I always get results on how to clean screens, and there are all sorts of different screens, so there's not really one specific way of cleaning them. For example, using alcohol on plastic LED screens isn't really a good thing, because that can actually damage the screen itself, and might even completely ruin the screen altogether. Using alcohol on glass screens doesn't really matter, since it won't really damage it, but I'm not just trying to clean screens, I'm trying to clean non-screen surfaces as well. I usually try to avoid alcohol when I can, because alcohol can actually discolorate the painting of the surfaces, but I'm fine using it as long it doesn't damage the device whatsoever. I heard a 50-50 water and a certain percentage of isopropyl alcohol is good, but how well does this work? Does anybody know what I could use? I also want non-alcohol solutions for my fragile devices as well. I'm not just trying to find which "cleaning solution" is the best, but which cloth is the best. I heard using a microfiber cloth is best when cleaning all sorts of surfaces on electronics, but again, what kind? Not all microfiber cloths are designed the same. Should I use a DMT Anti-Microbial microfiber cloth, that kills 99.9% germs, or should I avoid using this cloth? Should I use it along with the solution? I've also heard never to apply any sort of liquid or solution on your screens, only use the cloth, unless the screen is visibly dirty, or, you know, really dirty. Can anybody verify this? Also, the kind of answers I am expecting is which combinations of solutions and cloths I should use for which devices and surfaces. For example, something like "I would use this solution and this cloth for this device on surface, but use another solution for this device and surface", or something like that. Anyway, thank you all in advance.

Depends what you're cleaning.

Compressed air, water, paper towel, microfibre cloth, alcohol, soft brush, etc etc etc

Each one can and can't be used for certain things.

phone back (6s) -> water and cloth

matte screen -> windex, toilet paper, warm water, slightly damp, not too much (it'll smear all over and it'll look ugly)

glossy -> toilet paper + water, slightly more damp than with the matte screen

keyboard -> take out keycaps, submerge in soapy water, dry, put back on keyboard, blow out the dust with compressed air and (lightly) bang the dust out of the remaining places

mouse -> never, the one time i spilt tea on my mouse, i disassembled it and washed the case in HOT water

For things that need to be cleaned with a solution, I use a mixture of distilled water and (white) vinegar. Cleans things on the cheap just as well, if not better than general purpose cleaning products. Streak free as well, so it's great for glass (though, use at your own risk on monitors, i've never done so, nor do I intend to) such as side panels and phones. If I want it to smell better, i'll follow it up with a little simple green.

For things that need a wipe down, microfiber cloth. I use one from Costco - comes in a 50-pack and is marketed for washing car windows (which it's also great for mind you :P)

For removing dust, compressed air or a duster. If you don't have an air compressor in your garage/shop/shed/wherever, Dust-Off compressed air cans are a good, if not obscenely overpriced, alternative.
