Technically you'd just need a jumper for the 24 pin and you should be able to connect it without problems.

What power supply is it? That might be a little close considering efficiency and aging and such.

Without problems? Using an old PSU is the biggest problem.

I had an old computer with a low power Gpu.  The Gpu was powered directly from pcie without extra connectors. Now I added a pcie riser card. The riser has a 6 pin connector with a harddrive power cable. Now is my question is it safe to just put a hard drive cable in it and go ? Or I have a chance of blowing stuff up?
