What monitor to get [120 or 144hz]?

Rappalores
Go to solution Solved by Jbonn386,

I own that Asus monitor its a good one a little color editing when i got it but i have had no problems.

I also own a 1440p@60hz for games that the refresh rate doesn't matter and youtube/movies.

I currently have a 21.5" Philips 226VL but I want to upgrade to 120hz or even 144hz (is it really that much of a difference between those two?) because I often feel I get information too late onto my screen while gaming, that usual "I didn't even see him shoot me" kind of thing. I think 200-300€ should be a good price area. Shouldn't be too big as I am sitting ~50cm away from my monitor and my desk is rather small (Ikea Kallax). Any suggestions? Also, 1080p or does a bigger resolution provide any huge advantages?

I thought about the Asus VG248QE, but I have no idea really.

Cheers

-Rappa

and what games? 280X will struggle to go above 60 FPS on decent settings on newer games, but if older/optimised it might be worth it

It's most likely broken anyway, so I would have to get a new one. If prices drop to normal and affordable I want to get a 1070

The Asus you mentioned is decent for the money, better than that is quite a bit more expensive

Me too! Cant get enough of em.

I would stick with the one you chose. Higher resolution would be pointless with that GPU, even a 1070 struggles to get 100 fps 3440x1440p. 1070 would smash 144 @ 1080 though. You wont notice the difference between 120-144hz.
