celerons are worse than pentium 4's look to see if your board works with a core 2 duo.

It's socket is LGA 775. It says on this site that it supports Pentium 4 with Hyper Threading and Celeron processors. Nothing about core 2's of any sort

Looking for a $200 Graphics card I can put in a old machine to make the performance better. Pentium 4 single core (lel) 1GB RAM (Wait what?) 430w thermaltake PSU.

You could reuse the powersupply. Modern stuff uses a lot less power than it uses to. My old build got away with 330w.

Other than that...you could turn it into a router?

But you can't use that celeron as its basically a core 2 duo thats a bit slower. You have to use the celerons based off the pentium4 of the time and those were slower. A celeron is just a cust down higher end chip.

The problem is that it is a fairly old PSU and has high chances of EXPLODING. Isn't that just fun

What?

Dual cores won't work in this board.

Really get a newer system. A i5 optiplex is about 120 dollars.

But that would leave only $80 for a gpu and as you may already know the prices are high af right now

But it will be so much faster. Even a newer i5 optiplex with a igpu will be faster than this sytem with a dgpu in games. The cpu in this system is that bad.

I got this pc for free alright

but just because you got it for free doesn't mean upgrading it is the best way to have a cheap gaming pc. Its so old its useless and will leave you with a slower pc than you can get with 200 bucks.

Just get a system like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Optiplex-790-3-1GHz-QC-i5-4GB-250GB-DVD-Win-10-Pro-64-Desktop-Computer-B/372145209004?epid=1476059104&hash=item56a5953eac:g:bUcAAOSwaLdaaAz-

then get a gt 1030.
