I'm looking for some help with a system that I want to be primarily for 3D Modeling with tools like AutoCad.  My current rig (i7-7700k/32gig/GTX1080/Samsung EVO 960 Pro) is top notch for gaming, but really bogs down fast with 3D modeling in several programs (123D, AutoCad).

Looking for some guidance as to where to go from either my current build, or a completely new one.  Budget would be as high as ~3000$ USD.

I've included a complete dump of my current system specs from HWInfo

Much thanks for any suggestions

for speciality builds Puget Systems usually have really good recommendations, read some here on the links on their page:

I'm not framiliar with 123D, quick google search shows it as an Autodesk package that includes Maya and 3ds MAX?

It's hard to get better than what you already have to be honest, at least for autoCAD. One improvement would be a Quadro card, as a lot of the 3D programs scale from that, but Programs like Inventor and AutoCAD to an extent only use a single core from the CPU, so a High IPC, High Clock speed CPU is optimal.

See, that is what I was thinking, but it just gets DOG SLOW when i'm manipulating complex models.

A good OC and a Quadro card is about as good as you're going to get unless you try to shell out for an 8700K, which would only be really worth if you were also doing 3D renders (in which case the extra cores and threads on the 8700K would be beneficial)

The Linus video has some excellent data.

The current system could be tweaked by improving memory speed and timings and using a gpu with better 3D modeling performance. The difficulty is with the gpu, since Quadro do offer much better 3D modeling performance but are terrible for gaming.

You might consider keeping the existing box for gaming and getting a new box for modeling.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
