1060 performance very bad

MrAeRoZz

Hey guys,

recently I built a pc for a friend of mine with a gtx 1060 and a ryzen 5 1600.

Everything is working fine, only the gaming performance is very bad... a lot of fps drops and low average frame rate.Only about 60-70 average FPS in Fortnite, which after watching this video seems a bit weird. League of legends also didnt look very smooth. The Driver is the most recent from shadowplay and was a clean install.

is the 1060 a 3gb or 6gb version? If 3gb version, you may be running out of VRAM and that could be/likely is the cause.

Check the BIOS and make sure the card is at full PCIe 3.0 16x and the CPU temps and GPU temps are within their TJMax

A. dont watch random joe's on youtube. Check respectable sources.

B. if you suspect something is wrong, you need to check your data instead of assuming you're correct.

^This, especially point B.  What resolution is he playing Fortnight at which makes you think 70FPS is bad?  Compare actual real benchmarks (for example Anandtech or other Gfx review site with that card) with what he's getting.  Make sure all other drivers/Firmware are up to date and the temperatures are right.  Is the PSU a lemon, make sure the card is getting proper voltage, etc.

1080p at medium to low settings should get you more then 70 fps when my 970 gets me 130 with those settings

I just downloaded that game to see how it performs and my GTX 1060 + i7 give me 140FPS on average with couple high but rest medium settings.
Problem could be either in the gpu itself or its because of Ryzen....

that video is running with a 8600k, though, check the gpu usage, if your 1600 is running at stock and the gpu isn't maxed out, then it's a cpu bottleneck
