Better internet needed =[

Go to solution Solved by CAKEwasTRUE,

Hi, all my life I had never had more than 4 MB P/S Downloading speed and 1 MB P/S Uploading speed... (Due to speedtest.net)

I can barely play games without getting huge ping lags (I share wifi with 3 family members) and takes me hours to download things (Games, vids, etc.)

When I upload video to youtube, they also take extremely long...

I live in the US (Florida) and would like to know if you guys know of a better internet company I can use that will give me more then enough downloading and uploading speeds... I don't need some extreme  internet speed, just some speed that will be enough and that I won't have to worry about lagging in games.

-Cheap=good (Again, don't want something extreme)

Thanks, sorry for my bad inglish

Woot more peeps from FL :D

4/1? Oh man that sucks, how are you still alive? anyway, in Florida sorry to say but internet isn't cheap nor is it bank breaking. Bright house, Comcast, and Verizon are the 3 main company's out here and offer alot of options to choose from. you can look at them here:

-Bright House: http://brighthouse.com/central-florida/shop/internet

-Comcast: http://www.comcast.com/internet-service.html

-Verizon: http://www.verizon.com/home/fios-fastest-internet/

Since you have 3 other family members (4 total in the house) i would recommend a package that is somewhere from 30mbps down to 60mbps down!

I live here in Saint Cloud which is next to Orlando, I have Bright House Networks Turbo (30mbps) internet which is probably the best price/speed ratio from them without bundling, my brother, dad, and I all play games and we always use the internet. we have no problems, although i wish i had 60mbps! however if you can and i go would check and see if you can get FiOS by Verizon in your area. its the same price but way faster and more reliable.

Hope this helps! :P

No wonder! However that is still pretty crappy for 120 dollars

The reason you're lagging may just as well be that you're using WiFi (of course depending on your WiFi equipment). Believe it or not we used to play CS virtually without lag on 56K modems, back then 128 kbit/s was the extreme stuff! In any case even with the latest, worst optimized games a 4/1 should be perfectly adequate, just tell your brother to stop downloading questionable content.

If you're looking to pay for about 130-140 dollars for a combo pack just get Verizon. The plan I have now is like 130 for TV, Phone and internet 35/20.

In cases like that, yes. But if Comcast only has a 5 mb or so advantage, then go with the other company. Unless it's Time Warner , the other company is horrible, or Comcast has some workers that have gone rogue and become decent, I can almost guarantee that the other company will have better customer service.

Yeah I personally have comcast (local monopoly) and customer service definitely isn't great. One time we tried cancelling HBO and they said to do that we needed to lose our comcast DVR service too! Really wish we had something else around where I live...

Thankfully in my area we have Fios. Verizon isn't great but they're better than Comcast and Cavalier Telephone. Actually, try seeing if your area has Fios. Again, it's not Google Fiber, but it's better than Comcast, which I used to have.

No, We don't have FiOS, the 'border' of where you can get FiOS here is about 5-8 miles away however. Really frustrating.

No you didn't, it was just an even playing field because pretty much all 56k ISPs were exactly the same.  There wasn't a difference in the backbone, the bandwidth or the plans. Today you can have anywhere from 1/4MB upload to 5MB upload or higher and anywhere from 1MB download to 1GB download.  When you put people on Google fiber against people on crappy 1.5 DSL it isn't an even playing field so the person with the worse connection notices "lag" more.  4/1 is horribly slow, but it isn't really the download that's the issue unless other people are streaming content.  If other people are streaming you'll want at least 15MB download and 2MB upload, BARE MINIMUM.  I would aim for 30-50MB download and 4-5MB upload if you can get it.
