Hello I am considering building a gaming pc/htpc setup. I have a few questions if anyone can give me advice it would be appreciated.

1 would it be better to buy a higher end motherboard and a cheaper cpu for upgrade potential?

2 would I be able to get away with a nvidia 900 series  for 1080p gaming until I can afford a better graphics card?

3 when it comes to power supplies how do I chose one do I just add the maximum consumption of all devices or is there a better way ?

I've never built a system before. My current gaming laptop is getting old and it wasn't super high end to begin with.

Buy a Ryen APU system, can even be ultra small form factor since it doesn't need a GPU to start with, they come out on the 12th

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

All the TDPs of the items, then add 100 or 200W to that. Then choose a nice, quality PSU.

Ask me for more PSU help if needed.
