whats wrong with my computer fan?

i am using a cooler master 120mm fan that is about 5 years old and recently it has started to make a loud vibrating noise but i oiled the bearings and their was a black powder and the blades are loose. Dose this mean i need to replace the fan or is their a fix to it. it seems to me like the bearings are shot

This is quite normal for the 120mm fans but it can be fixed.

What you need to do is give it some TLC. Some time off.

Post it to Rio at carnival time and leave it there for a couple of weeks.

When it gets back don't put it to work straight away, give a couple of days to get back into things.

Make it breakfast in bed and bring it a beer in the evening.

After a couple of days it should be perfect again, well rested and fit for the purpose.

Nothing to see here - move along.
