Youtube on Chrome is slow, really slow.

What the title says, chrome loads everything and buffers YT so slow. When i open opera it works normally. 

 

Any ideas?

@newcbomb Have you measured your network speeds through task manager when using each? I believe opera has a built in vpn idk if its on but it may have something to do with that. If there is network congestion getting to YouTube you may see better speeds if operas vpn is on.

Youtube has acknowledged that some ads on their site use your CPU or GPU to mine when watching videos. So maybe check CPU and GPU usage when watching a video and see if any go out of whack?

Oh believe me I use it too, yet my R5 2500U goes to 80% CPU every time I even open up the youtube page. Something in there is mining

using adblock is fine. I suggest you to use this tool https://www.google.com/chrome/cleanup-tool/ and ADWCleaner then restart. Then check and let me know.

Hmm, Ok considering the IPC difference between Ryzen and Ivy Bridge. I get 8% load usually before this mining apocalypse on youtube. Then taking the 20% IPC difference would mean that perhaps it is mining

Also, at this moment. Videos stop buffering after a few seconds and hang for a bit.

Seems good. But idk. Can you disable all the extensions and play the video again? Also, did you clear cookies, cache and all that good stuff?

 

Did you run the "Chrome Cleanup Tool" and ADWCleaner?

I use this all the time but it had an error on this.

Right now, disablining everything makes it auto to 144p and dosent buffer at all. Chrome is only using 0.1mbps

you're fine with that. don't delete it. ADWCleaner gone shit after Malwarebytes acquired it.

 

Can you go to the Chrome settings--> Advanced--> untick "Use Hadware acceleration whenever available"  and close chrome then open and then check?

Dosent help, i just tried my YOutube-DL instance on a bot i have and it was very slow too. Maybe the youtube CDN is bad in my area?

I don't think so, it should at least load like you have 10/10. You have 500/100, you should be getting good speed. Something wrong with your chrome I suspect or any software configs.

Have you cleared cookies and cache? Try Chrome Canary, a slightly more WIP version of chrome and see if you have any problems.
