dual monitor with 1060

Hey i had a question is it possible to use a gtx 1060 for 2 monitors? it has 1x hdmi port 2x dp. Both monitors are 75hz and one is 1920x1080 and the other 2560x1080.

It’s possible to use dual monitors on computers from the 90s. Any modern computer with the outputs can use multiple displays. If it has 5 outputs, you can use 5 displays.

Yes. Gaming performance when using both as game screen will suffer, but other than that it will work perfectly.

this is not true, at least not in a practical use case because while you can connect 5 monitors if you have 5 outputs you will not be able to display different content on all of them, some of them will just be mirrored.

 

for example if you have HDMI and DVI ports on the GPU you will only be able to drive two monitors even if you have one HDMI and two DVI.

This is why most people have to use at least tone display port once they go above two monitors.

 

The same applies to graphics cards marketed as "flex display" or an other marketing term, for example my 980Ti has 2 DVI, 3 DP and 1 HDMI but it can only drive a maximum of 4 displays.
