If miners haven't hit the 900s series in your area get a used 980 Ti, 980, or 970.

I doubt anyone would mine using the 980 or 980 ti. 970 is where it's at for power consumption and hashrate on zcash and eth. For OP: just wait a lil longer dude crypto prices are coming down little by little each day so you just need to wait a couple weeks. In the mean time lower your settings on games and stuff. Try not to be picky about how games look.

In my area even the 700s series is getting hit. Basically any GPU turns a profit so it gets bought up.

Get a 980ti its like 1070 but draws more power but is the "same"

Pretty much no one except miners care about power draw.

Just saying.. i am not a miner but i do.

From an engineering point such performance with lower wattage is very impressive even the 1080ti is way better.

For 99% of people, the power draw is not their primary consideration. You said that the higher power draw somehow invalidates a 980 Ti from being equal to the 1070.
