Anybody miss the Windows 95/98 look?

fear92

Being born in the distant past of '92 I sure do miss the blockier and simpler look of Windows 98.

If only Classic Theme wasn't removed from Windows 10 I'd be able to get the true old experience of it, there are some work arounds, but nothing seems to match the true golden look.

Maybe I should buy a crt.

Not particularly, but I definitely prefer Windows 7 to Windows XP(now that I've actually started actively using XP more in addition to 7 and 10).

Man... I had to resurrect some accounting software from a Windows 98 machine last week. I DO NOT miss it. At all.  Vista and 7 Aero themes were pretty gaudy though. Don't miss those.

XP and Aero on W7 is still awesome tbh. I don't know which twat came up with the "modern" style stuff uses today but i don't like it at all. It's just too, simple... I mean we have fantastic hardware today, use it to make stuff look good, not boring...

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

7's my favorite, I just love the look and feel and animations it came with. Truly a perfect OS. Wish there was a way to change back without sketchy programs.

My favorite was Windows 2000. It works really well, even for modern uses. I like the Luna theme with XP, but Classic was the best (along with Vista and 7). By far I'm the most used to (right now anyways) Windows 8.1/Server 2012 R2 + Desktop Experience.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Like Jamie, I preferred Windows 2000. I delayed as long as I could before going to XP, and usually switched back to the classic look on it, before I got into my theme phase from stuff like Windows Blinds.

the classic themes look cool to use occasionally, but to use everyday would be boring..

i do miss Windows 7 style a bit..

If 10 has the option, I’d love to style it like XP. As in the general aesthetic. I do like searching, but it’s too “modern” with the stupid minimalist designs everyone does today. Feels preppy/buzzfeed/ikea

there are minimalist designs that are very functional. Windows 10 however, not so much..

I think it still looks good. And today on Linux you can get the same look while being able to run modern software. unknown-1.png.04cf5346d2b3285e5f0d2c9a74d8d319.png

I don’t mind having few buttons. I think the new windows logo looks dumb. The windows 10 start button looks like a child made it.
