there is currently no better cpu than the i7 8700k, you will always find the that the newest consumer overclockable i7 is the best one for gaming

If you wanted to SLI right now buying 2 titans makes the most sense since they are actually in stock

Dual GPU is never worth it

The Titan V isn’t for gaming. A Titan Xp with a moderate overclock will surpass it. Just think of the Titan V as a quadro, because it is.

Yes because a Titan Xp is cheaper than a 1080 ti. You could get probably $1300 for your 1080 ti and then get 2 Titan Xps for $1200 each and put them in SLI

Yes but it’s not a gaming GPU. It’s not meant for gamers, it’s not marketed at gamers, etc... It’s not even a GeForce card. And the Titan V can’t be run in SLI or NVlink. Like I said a Titan Xp with an overclock will best or come close to a Titan V. So get Titan Xp SLI for $2400 instead of the $3000 for a Titan V, and even on games that don’t support SLI you will still be at Titan V performance. And for the games that do support SLI you’ll be crushing the Titan V.

An overclock on the titan Xp is not going to close the gap in some cases

It’s close. So in the cases where games don’t support SLI you are within 3%, and when they do you’ll kill a Titan V and you still spent $600 less.

You can still sell it for a ton of money, but really there's no reason to replace it with anything nor waste money on a 2nd 1080ti

As a side note I'd get the 1950X over the 8700K or X299 chips but that's just me, would rather have 16 cores than a bit more fps

stand at 16GB or higher

get a 500GB ssd and a 1 or 2TB hdd 7200rpm
