i7 7700k + gigabyte 270n build not working

Hi, a newb here. I'm just done with a mini-itx build with 

  1. i7 7700k
  2. gigabyte ga-z270n gaming 5
  3. crucial 16 gb 2x8 ddr4 2400
  4. evga 400w atx power supply
  5. NO DEDICATED GRAPHICS

case, cpu & power supply fans are starting, so I know it's not dead. Tried connecting the monitor via hdmi and display port. But nothing come up. No BIOS or anything.

What could it be?

Need help bad guys. Thanks in advance.

Can't help, but -

please return your PSU if possible, the thing is nearly a fire hazard.

probably RAM sticks not installed properly. You have to get the clips to click on first.

 

Also terrible choice on power supply. All cheap units from EVGA are bad.

rams are installed correctly. I know its a crappy psu. It's a build for a friend, and he bought the damn unit.

Something like the CX450 for $22 would do, if you wanted something on the cheap.

Most likely the PSU is dead, I've encountered a few machines where the PSU will only deliver enough power to turn on the HDD, fans, and LEDs.

ah ok. that could it be it. The LEDs, fans and hdd are turning on.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a PSU problem, as @JDE said, it's a fire hazard. When PSUs die on a high note, they'll usually take other components with them. Going by your post, it looks like you got lucky and it's just the PSU that's dead.

Damn! Now I really hope it didn't fry the motherboard or something!!!

I wouldn't worry about that at all, just replace the PSU. A CX450M or 550M would be a good choice.

Step it up and get at least 550watts. Then you'll have enough headroom to add a GPU in the future if you wish.
