Weird sounds from psu

So my psu sounds like this. The recording was taken with a blue snowball up close while opening battlefield 1. Is there something wrong with my psu? Its not the fan making the sound. Along with these sounds there can also be heard a high pitched squeaking sound sometimes.

loose bearing is what it sounds like to me

RMA if it's under warranty

i don't suggest poking around inside

I'd second the advice to RMA that. You can try cleaning it out, very carefully, with some compressed air first, in case dust build up is causing the noise, but do make sure that there's no condensation and that the PSU is completely dry before turning it back on.

if it's not being cooled properly, it might, but since it is a evga one and probably a good one (to be rated 80+ gold), it'll probably have overheating protection

I will. It's covered by a 5 year warranty. But do you think that I will have any problem RMAing it if I removed one of the sticker on the side?

don't remove the stickers

I'm guessing that's the G1 or the GS? The G1 is mediocre, the GS is definitely not too bad (I own one in my personal PC).

 

If it's either though, RMA it anyways. EVGA will honor it.

Could just swap the fan. Quite a simple procedure. Had to do it to my old 1k watt. Out sourced cheap fans and only lasted a few years.

Hard to know with just an audio clip (how close you were, how loud it is relative to something else) etc. And I'm not an expert in coil whine (i wonder if there really are any experts in coil whine...) but I would put my money on that it is coil whine - i.e. nothing to worry about.

The mic was right up close with the psu on the outside of the case. The noice is audible while sitting next to the pc (but not very loud)

Lets see what others opinion are. I always describe coil whine for my system like a sizzling sound thats only  really obvious when the system is under load. Do you find it louder if you're system is under load?

Well if it's coil whine you just live with the noise forever. It's annoying but it's not an issue outside of that.

 

If it's the fan then it's a little more serious as the fan failing is something that is covered in your warranty and you'd want it replaced if that were the case.

Yeah, there are no moving parts in a PSU outside the fan so if it's not your fan then it's EMI noise.
