Help getting it more silent.

I have these fans in this cabinet:

http://www.corsair.com/en-us/obsidian-series-750d-airflow-edition-full-tower-atx-case

  • Includes three AF140L fans, with room for up to eight fans.

And this CPU cooler:
https://www.komplett.no/product/836033?noredirect=true#

Fan Specification:

  • Fractal Design Silent Series HP 120 mm
  • 800 - 1700 RPM
  • PWM control
  • Max air flow: 62.4 CFM
  • Max pressure: 2.33 mm H2O
  • Acoustical noise: 26.9 dB(A)
  • DC 12V, 0.18A

There is a fan on a titan x, and on the PSU but they seldom run.

What could I do to get more quiet? It makes much noise..

I have MSi Godlike MB if that matters.

Should I change all fans? And what fans are most silent?

Silent Wings 3?

are you controlling the fans with anything right now? you coud set a fan curve in the BIOS, but you could always install SpeedFan and let that control your fans.

I just check the spec of the wing3 and at 2200 rpm they are at 28.6db

So very close to the Fractal.

Fractal  = 1000 rpm you have 15 db

Bequiet = 1000 rpm you have 13 db

It`s a question of speed control, more then noise control.  In my opinion.

Just did a view of the case. Glass is not very good for noise control. If you want low sound you may have to go to the  600Q quiet case or change side panels, to have more sound dampening ( not sure you can change them )

First identify which components are too noisy. You can use your hands to stop fans to see if the noise goes away with it. Have you tried lowering fan speeds?

I have MSi bios. (The first Godlike.)
There is no option to control the fans in bios.

Utterly annoying. I can not find it if there is at least..

:)

Only way to control fan I can find is in Command Center.

But that cannot be saved. :( It get noticeably more quiet when I manually reduce it maximum though.

I cannot get under 700 rpm to my knowledge.

But if the noise difference is that minimal, I guess it would be a waste of money.

I do not have money to change cabinet.

So changing the fans is my only option beside finding a way to get the fans I have to run under 700 rpm ..

Yes. See the image I posted. Command Center allows me only to lower it so much though..

When I lower it, the noise is reduced a lot. But far from enough.

It drops from like 800rpm to around 700rpm when I manually reduce fan speed in the program.

(I always do it when I leave the PC on for long, as the reduced noise really helps. But I never bother with it when only using it for short sessions.)

I cannot find any fan control in Bios.

I have MSI bios if anyone know how to do it on those.

I swapped my AIO for air cooling, the noise difference is far quieter, would recommend.

My fans are louder than the noise of the pump.

So as long as the fans make more noise than pump, I only need to change fans.

But if at any point I can afford fixes that make the fans less noisy than the pump, the pump will have to go too! ;)

I cannot hear mine. Only when gaming.

I guess the other fans I have make more noise than the Titan X. :D

Have you tried stopping each fan in the system individually?  Sometimes 1 bad fan can double the noise

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

I know where the noise comes from.

It get noticeably more quiet when I manually reduce it maximum.

Only fan I cannot control is the one in the Titan X ... But as I said, I can only hear the Titan X fan when I game on 4K and the like.

When normal use, or idle, I hear the three CPU fans, but not the pump. And the three corsair case fans.

No matter how much I lower the 6 fans, cpu and case fans, they are the most noisy fans in the PC.

I can only reduce them by like 100 rpm in the software, but it get noticeably more quiet when I do so.

If I could get them to run lower than 700 rpm, or find fans that make less noise at 700 rpm; the computer would be less noisy.

speedfan is a very powerfull tool for this. getting better fans will not help at all if they are just going to run at high speeds again. at full load even the most quiet fans can sound like a jet engine.

Changing the case doesn't make much of a difference unless you're dampening high pitched electrical noise.

What are your specs?

Make sure you plug the 3pin fans into the sys_fan headers and the 4pin into the cpu_fan headers.

Have you tried stopping the fans with your hands until the noise goes away? It's easy to mistake what's the primary cause of noise otherwise.
