warranty voided if I open laptop?

Hi everybody, a simple question: will opening up a laptop (hp pavilion x360 14-ba000nl) to insert an additional storage device void the warranty? And is there any way they can find out if I did?

If you dont have to break any stickers, then you can do it without voiding the warranty. It's just like overclocking a CPU, Intel said it will break the warranty, but it's not an issue since they cant prove it. Laptop manufacturers use stickers' integrity to prove the laptop has not been fiddled with.

As long as you dont leave evidence you opened it should be fine. Just make sure if you for example move another RAM stick / Drive that you restore the state as it was delivered to you before RMA.

They could see it has been opened (if you work a lot with electronics you can tell if a product has been opened or not) but since you didn't void any sticker, that should be fine. Usually, all that stuff is just behind a panel with a couple of screws, so no worries there.
