Mac mini 2012

I just got a brand new Mac mini 2012.

I have upgraded the HDD to SSD 240GB

Ram to 16GB

 

I am looking for 4k monitor that it support without any problems, I am currently looking at Dell s2415q or s2817q. I don't know how well this works with the Mac mini, and if none of this work well with Mac mini which thunderbolt display version would be great for 2012 Mac mini, I would probably want the latest display that works great with it, I want this system to be mainly for playing around with Photoshop, Dreamweaver, app development practice and learning

Correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't looked into it in awhile, but doesn't Thunderbolt 2/Mini Displayport only support monitors up to 2560x1600? Take this with a grain of salt though, I could be completely wrong.

From my research, the Mac Mini (late 2012) has Intel HD Graphics 4000 which only supports up to 2560x1600. 4k monitors won't work at all.

100% correct - without some fancy pants trickery somehow via software or even possibly hardware, it will not run anything above a standard 1440p monitor. (1600p will work, if you can find such a monitor, but they are not super common these days since Apple no longer makes the HD Cinema Display, or the one after that.)

They best you would be able to do is get one of those old Apple Thunderbolt displays. The 2012 Mac Mini does not support 4K.

I just got mini display to display port cable late today I tried it on my benq XL2730Z I got full 1440p, the sharpness  looks great but this monitor picture quality is really bad, I haven't changed the settings since I got it. I can't seem to find a 60hz 2560x1440p monitor cheap. For example 4k monitor is really cheap like the Dell 2817q is $280. I want a monitor with good picture quality. If I buy the 4k will I get full screen scaled.

Thunderbolt 2 / DP 1.2 and HD4000 graphics supports 4K 60 Hz just fine, however the Mac Mini 2012 only has Thunderbolt 1 (DisplayPort 1.1) so 4K is only supported at 30 Hz.
