So basically I upgraded my to CPU(Ryzen 1300x), MOBO(B350 MSI MATE), and RAM(CRUCIAL BALLISTIX DDR4 8GB). So i want to use my old hdd. I searched alot and cand find a topic that tells all the instructions on how to format your hdd and boot a windows on it. So can someone explain me what i need to do exactly so that windows can recognise the new hardware im running and still use my hdd.

If you were planning on (re)installing Windows on the HDD, then the Windows install process involves formatting the drive automagically.

So get yourself a Windows install media (either DVD install disk or using the Media Creation Tool), boot into that, and it's straight forward from there.

Are you wanting to keep your files? If so, back them up. You'll need to format the drive. Use this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 to make a bootable USB drive to install Windows from.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Yes i did the thing with the usb windows, but how do I format a drive?

When you select which drive you want to install Windows on, the installer will automatically do it for you.

If it gives you issues about existing partitions, selecting them then pressing the "Delete" option until the drive is clean usually works.

The option comes up before you install windows within the installer.

I'd actually be sure to delete all of the partitions all together too including the recovery drive until all you have is unallocated space and then just hit next, because windows will automatically do the rest for you and that way you're not leaving anything behind.
