Computer randomly freezes?

Go to solution Solved by brob,

Well SHT! Stumped again :/ I just started putting my PSU upside down and I'm starting to think that its not getting enough air do you think that could be the reason? Also my Memtest86 score had 0 errors

Your psu should be mounted with the intake fan facing down to draw air from below the case. The case should rest on a hard surface with a cm or so of clearance to the bottom of the case, i.e. it should not rest directly on carpet. There should be clear space around the bottom of the case so that air can be drawn in.

If you are overclocking your gpu and/or cpu, take the overclocks off. See if that eliminates the problem.

So its starts with Firefox not responding, then whenever I switch to some other window (Steam, origin) they also become unresponsive and the whole computer freezes for like 10 seconds?

Specs are in my Sig and in my profile

Anyone know how to fix this?

Hope I could help!

PSU?

Also might i suggest you run MEMTEST86+ on your RAM for a few passes so you can rule that out.

Do you know of any software programs to test a PSU? (If there are any)

Hope I could help!

They make power supply testers, but all those test for it the existence of voltage on each line. There really is no software to test a PSU directly, but running a CPU benchmark along with a GPU benchmark while monitoring voltages is a good way to start. I would do as Altecice suggested and run MEMTEST86 to be sure your ram is good.

I'm on mobile. How many sticks of RAM do you have?

It could be a browser addon. Adobe stuff is the worst offender.

I believe that it might be because my RAM is extremely slow only 666MHZ But thank you very much for the help!:)

Are you sure? The speed you report strikes me as being 1/2 of a data transfer rate of 1333MHz. (DDR stands for Double Data Rate, i.e. 2 x the bus speed of 666MHz.)

One thing you should do is take out a stick of RAM and see if freezing still occurs. If it does, switch them (but keeping only one DIMM in) and see if the issue is still occurring.

You're reading the actual frequency. If you take 666 times 2, you get 1332 which is more or less 1333 speeds which is 100% fine. The reason why this happens is DDR completes two operations per cycle effectively doubling the actual frequency of the DIMM(s).
