My first ever PC build!

Don't really have a name for it and it may not be anything special compared to some of the insane builds on here but I'm pretty proud of this! I've never built a PC before, I've done upgrades like RAM and GPU but that's about it. 

 

Motherboard gave me a bit of trouble as it has the prebuilt IO Shield so trying to get the standoffs to line up was a pain but I got there! 

 

Specs are -

i7 8700k

Asus ROG Maximus X Hero

16GB Trident Z RGB Ram 3000Mhz
GTX 1080 MSI Gaming X

EVGA G3 750w Modular PSU

NZXT Kraken x62 AIO Cooler

Samsung Evo 850 500GB SSD

2TB WD Black HDD

CoolerMaster H500P Case

 

Few plans for the near future are to add an M2 NVME drive, upgrade to an 1080Ti ASUS ROG Strix and possibly add another 16GBs of RAM.

 

Don't be too hard on me! Like I said, first build and I'm super proud of it!

I love the purple aesthetic - where'd you get those purple/rgb intake fans?

They're built into the H500P case!

That's Perfect. I would say though for looks and performance grab some Ll Fans and a commander pro so you can sync it all up. I would though Wait to get Volta and not grab a 1080TI. But overall great!

Yeah I do want to grab an RGB fan controller at some point, I'll look into the Commander Pro! Want to replace the rear exhause fan soon so that might be the first thing I do. 

 

Do we know how far off Volta is? I was expecting an announcement at CES

Right now Nvidia Doesn't have a competitor as vega is basically as powerful as 1070. My friend is at CES And they are all showing off VR Atm. I Would expect maybe end of this year? But 1080 I have one. It's great and more than enough.
