Budget gaming system

Proxxima

Hello, so first i want to say that i'm planning to do a new build for myself. I'm from Germany so US links won't help that much. I would love if you guys can send EU links.

Okay lets get to my plan :

As you can see in the title, I want to build a budget gaming PC. I want to save as much money as possible, so i would go for used Parts.

I already found a 780 TI which basically is a 1060.

Now to my plan i want to ask you guys what you think about the plan and if you could give me some ideas of used parts, something like a used i7.

I want to stay in Budget as much as possible. I dont have a budget like 1000€ or 500€

The 780 TI would go for 180€ and i want to stay in this price range.

The used i7 should be as cheap as possible but as good as possible.

I hope you kinda understand the plan.

The budget is not 1000 or 500, so what is you budget exactly?

YOu want to stay in the 180 euro price range? how do you mean? 180 euros RAM and 180 euros CPU and 180 euros MOBO? that would be weird.
Also, you can't have the best possible performance for the least amount of money. You can have the best performance for a set budget or a set performance for the least amount of money.

you should figure out what an exact budget is and work around that before deciding on parts

Start with the local classifieds (craigslist, etc.) and go from there. I would deprioritize overclocking at this point as well as they depreciate slower than their equivalents in pre built systems. Since you are trying to go for gaming pc, my advice would be to get the bare minimum of everything (i7-2600 or greater, 8gb ram, barebones mobo, etc.) and put the money into the gpu.

edit: Good point about the PSU @LLXIR, no need to go crazy but going for a new corsair or evga 430-500w psu is a good idea.

Here's what I'd try and get:

  • Intel 4770, 4790, etc. Some form of locked i7
  • Intel B/H series LGA1150 motherboard
  • 16GB of DDR3
  • 500GB SSD
  • 550w PSU

Honestly, saying you're going for used parts sort of puts you out on your own. If you had questions about part compatibility we can help, otherwise without sites to look at it's a pretty hard task.

You'll end up overpaying if you use eBay, more often than not.

Honestly, with the recent CPU releases we've seen, buying used doesn't make a whole lot of sense anymore. People want too much for their old hardware. I'd look into getting a budget system like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 1200 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor  (€99.90 @ Caseking)
Motherboard: Asus - PRIME B350M-E Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard  (€76.99 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Case: BitFenix - Nova ATX Mid Tower Case  (€32.90 @ Caseking)
Power Supply: SeaSonic - 450W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  (€69.26 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Total: €279.05

You can usually find pretty good deals on used storage and RAM. You might be able to get people on the Reddit Hardware Swap to ship to you.
