Hello,

My client got a Surface laptop that has bitlocker on the C-Drive. That's all good and all but now there is a bluescreen when you start up Windows 10. So is there a way to just fully reset the Surface? I have tried just putting in a USB with a Windows installer on it and that didnt work. Any help is welcome.

Yannick

Are you trying to recover the OS or reinstall? If recover I cannot help.

If delete, from the windows (custom) installer does it allow you to delete the partition?

If not you might be able to force the partitions deletion by pressing Shift+F10, entering DISKPART and running "clean" on the affected disk. From there you can create a new primary partition.

Before doing anything, make sure your have the bit-locker recovery key. It should have been backuped by the owner, or you can extract it from the Microsoft linked main account of the system here: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=237614

Formatting will not remove the bit-locker and just end up with a bricked system. Remember you can't open (without damage) a Surface to pull the drive out.

To a system restore (all data will be lost) back to factory release. (You still need the BitLocker recovery key), you can get it here, and follow the instruction carefully.
