Yo mates,

i have hard time in choosing btw ryzen 1600 and i5 8400 to pair with my gtx 1080(i game in 1080p 144hz)

i know i5 8400 gives more fps but i dont mind in fps if ryzen can handle gtx 1080 better overall(like bottleneck...)

But what will be wise choice to pair with my gtx 1080?

the 8400 would be my choice, the I5 should see you better off framerate wise

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Both would handle the GTX 1080 no problem Between the two based on your use case, the i5 would be a better choice HOWEVER, knowing that the 1600 is hyper-threaded (or SMT'd, take your pick) it offers a much better value for what you buy beyond sheer clocks, the extra threads may come in handy for other applications. But you didn't specify any other applications that you'd use, so my recommendation stands.

so i5 8400 will lose some serious fps while streaming compared to r5 1600??

yes it will, the i5 8400 is a great gaming chip but if you wanna stream what you are playing you need those extra cores. If you are a "heavy" streamer i would recommend an R7 but an R5 is ok.

so i5 8400 performs well while not streaming and on the other side r 1600 performs well even while streaming

If you're that big a of a noob, explaining it to you wont make a difference, so i'm not going to waste my time. The 1600x is the better CPU to use for gaming while streaming, and that's all you really need to know.

Depends on the title (and the encoding rate). The Gamers' Nexus video above he did DiRT and DOTA2.

No. I'm not going to repeat myself. You asked for videos, i gave them to you. Do not ask me to spoon feed you, because I will put down the spoon, and dump the bowl on your head.
