Currently i have a Intel i5 750, GTX 980, 70watt PSU, 8gb ddr3 ram. & LOTS of Drives.

Would this be a sensible "around £600" cpu uprgade:

Must have:

You should look for faster memory if possible, Ryzen loves fast memory. Are you planning to overclock the 1700X? If not, I would suggest that you grab a 1700, scrap the 212 LED, and use a Wraith cooler instead.

I'd go with 3000MHz, making sure that the motherboard fully supports it beforehand. If you're using a 212 LED for overclocking it might be a bit loud. If you care about acoustics, I'd take a look at the Cryorig or Be Quiet lineup.

Don't get the 212, it's not really that great of a cooler. Look at the H7 from CryOrig.

You can save 40 pound and get the 1700. Difference is minimal, if anything at all.

I think G.Skill memory uses Samsung dies. There's a Reddit thread that lists the ones that do, you'd want to get a set of that.
