HELP: Old Thermal Paste won't come off

So, here's the story:

 

Your boy here decided to buy a used Liquid Cooler. As it turns out, the previous owner was not smart and left the old thermal paste on for a while. It's not all dried out and all my attempts to clean it off with Isopropyl alcohol come to no effect. Do you guys know any way of removing really old thermal paste?

You need some isopropyl alcohol, use a q-tip or some tissues.

I have been sitting here for a while now using Isopropyl Alcohol, it's taking its time to come off. Not seeing big results

Try using warm water with the isopropyl alcohol on a towel.

Are you letting it set? or just going straight to wiping it off? Is it 90% or something a lot weaker? I'm sure you have fingernails or hard plastic around.

Just try to scape it off with your ID or some plastic card that won't damage the cooler.

Unless the previous owner used thermal adhesive, it should come of.

 

if it is adhesive, use Acetone.

I kept going at it for an hour and it eventually all came off but damn it was annoying.
