New CPU AMD

Hi,

My pc's CPU (i5 4670k) is getting relatively out of date on the newest games. It's starting to struggle. Considering I need a new motherboard anyways I was looking at AMD, I've had a bad experience with AMD before (FX-8350) which is the only thing holding me back.

However, I heard Ryzen is pretty good. I'm lookng for something with performance similar to i7-4770k OR i7-4790k.

I'd like to know if AMD is actually stable and a good choice and what AMD CPU gives me the most similar performance to the CPU's listed above?

Thanks in advance

Ryzen chipsets are far more reliable than the FX series. The Ryzen 5 1600 compares nicely with the 4770K.

Why not get a  i7-4790k? You won't have to upgrade your motherboard.

And what do you mean by you need to replace the motherboard?

I7-4790k is nowhere to be bought around here (only second hand, but not doing that). It's not even sold anymore. And replace the motherboard because of the socket.

Just heard about it, seems like the most logical option

The Ryzen CPU's have been heavily discounted a few times now and likely a trend that will continue.  If you spot a really good deal on the current Ryzen lineup it might be worth getting now.  However like dave_k mentioned Ryzen refresh is expected this quarter.
