It's worth it buy a 1070ti over a 1070?

jeanic

Quick question. It's really worth it buy a 1070ti over a 1070?

I want a nice performance but i don't want to invest more money if the performance its the same.

This is my build so far.

I've seen 1070 Tis that almost eat into the 1070's price range in the US. If you can find a 1070 Ti for 5-10% more, it's probably worth imo.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

the 1070ti is what I would say is its the not so poor mans 1080 because it can OC there

but if is 50 USD or less for sure, if like 75 or above then no the 1070 is fine.

they'll both be horrible in 4 years anyways who cares
If you can find the 1070ti for a reasonable price compared to the 1070 then go for it.

I just pulled the trigger on my own Asus strix Rog 1070 ti upgraded from a hand me down 660. I am really looking forward to the upgrade. I bought it off newegg for 519 cheapest 1080 was $20 more but it was eh. With the prices where they are and the market so blah I just gave in and grabbed it. My understanding is that the strix is capable of OCing to base 1080’s levels so I didn’t see the need to spend more money for a similar experience without the features of the strix. Should be arriving in a few days. I can’t wait to break that baby in.

I got my 1080 cause it was only like 40 bucks differance than a 1070ti. So I went for higher preformance.

I would get the Ti over the standard one because it’s a small price difference and it’s got about more performance but if your going for a high end card like that I would go for the 1080ti.

if you think 2fps extra justifies 40 dollars extra...

@Princess Cadence ok if you like using overclocked stats vs none OC'd great.  But for those of us who dont OC our GPu.Also dependso n benchmarks you see I;'ve seen wider margisn too so using the silicon lotter seems foolish to me for consistancy. also more cuda cores in some cases for some games matters. so I think choosing shoudl be based on their base preformance non OC and on thingsl iek that. Not if it can OC to within 2%of one another.

I mean once both are overclocked the 1070ti is about 10-15% faster than the 1070. Check local pricing to see if that makes sense where you are.

I would love if you guys would watch the video before freaking quoting me and mentioning me for real, this is the third time I think only in this thread? WATCH THE VIDEO IT WAS A DIRECT OC TO OC COMPARISON.

Sorta because you can overclock the 1070 ti to a normal 1080 or just spend some more money on  an 1080 though

all comes down to price...

example: lets say a 1070 is $500, 1070ti is $550 and the 1080 is $600.........if you the ti is $50 or under in terms of price to the 1070 then you get the 1070 ti, if is more than $50 then you would be better at looking at getting the 1080....

It is all about 1: how much money you have(your MAX) and 2: the cost of each card.

if it was me then i dont think the ti is worth it unless its less than $50 more than a normal 1070.

Like @Princess Cadence says....is the 5-10% increase in performance worth the extra cost....always comeing bk to the cost difference betwenn the 1070 and 1070 ti

I'd for a ryzen 5 1600 instead, with a decent cooler you can get 3,9 ghZ no problem. And 1070 cause it's better value

It’s a better value depending on where you live and the cost of the cards you can get. If the 1070 is close on price to the 1070 ti then get the ti every time. The 1080 is equivalent to the 70ti ocd so why get a 1080 if you can get the ti for $30 or more less

If the price difference is none existent and you get double or triple fan designs then, please. If it is something like a cheap 1070 Ti (like non-OC and not-so-great cooling) in the price of a better 1070 (like OC or better cooling), then i would not recommend it because the performance would make only little sense over better thermals and noise. However, the upgrade from a 1070 to a Ti still a viable option. Go for it, if it has a minimal price gap. Otherwise, go according to what your budget allows.

Here in Sweden the differences between 1070 and 1070ti is more then 100 dollars.

Card prices right now in the USA after the holidays have spiked dramatically

The cheapest 1070 TI on Newegg is $490 by MSI and oddly the cheapest 1070 is $500 by EVGA

If your looking at FE $450 1070 Ti and $399 for $1070 but the 1070 seems to be sold out

So let's say without the extreme pricing and your comparing FE 1070 Ti to FE 1070 the extra $50 for a 1070 Ti (basically a slowed down 1080) is totally worth it IMO.  However you can always play the for "X" more you can get a "Y" card.  Since a GTX 1080 by MSI starts at $535 and a 1070 Ti is $490, that extra $45 to go to a 1080 is also a no brainer.  If a FE 1080 vs 1070 Ti is only $100 difference

So where do you draw the line?  How strict is your budget?  If your budget is strictly $400 or bellow get the 1070, if you have the wiggle room and can go another $50-$90 the 1070 Ti is a great bump up over the 1070.  Furthermore is you can go $135-$150 more over a 1070 a 1080 is a more future proof card.

Also if your looking to game at 3440X1440 or even some 4K def get the 1070 Ti or 1080

True.  I had a 1070 and it can handle 1070 but sometimes I had to lower games to Med/High to get consistent 60+ FPS.  I guess my suggestion was based off 3440 x 1440 on High/Ultra and using a high refresh rate monitor
