Would a mic be slower through a USB hub?

No, and if the mic is the only thing connected to the hub you won't even have any reduced bandwidth. Just be sure to get a powered hub, otherwise you might as well just get a USB extension cable. USB itself has a maximum transmit distance of 5 meters without a repeater (or powered hub).

I plan on buying a boom arm but the mic mounted on it will be too far from my pc to connect the usb. so my question is, if i buy a USB hub to mount under my desk, would the input from my mic be slower since it has to go through the hub to my computer instead of straight to the pc?
