Windows does not detect RX 580

Today my friend got a brand new RX 580, installed it, and Windows doesn't detect it. I went into the BIOS, and it detected a "ATI AMD Radeon 500 series", so it should be fine? I'm out of ideas.

 

FULL SPECS:

i5 4690K

MSI Z97-G43

16GB DDR3

ASUS Dual RX 580

Corsair 230T

Corsair CX550M

I'd say not enough information to go on from here, there are no examples, not a single mention of what was done driver wise, I mean you're "senior" by now no? where's your effort?

Is the computer outputting a signal from it? Are there any other GPUs?

I uninstalled it with DDU (had previous card before), reinstalled the drivers (with both AMD and included disc) and CMOS reset.

It's outputting a signal but Windows detects only 200MB VRAM, a "basic display card" and crashes instantly in games

Should shitpost less people see your content count and actually takes serious what you say.

 

Does the motherboard BIOS is on the latest version? since you're dealing with a video card that came quite after your motherboard that is advised for stability, testing a different pci-e slot also is a valid step here.

I just changed the PCIE slot, and now there's no display output, and the fan isn't moving

Where are you seeing this "200MB" VRAM from?

Are you using GPU-Z, or something dumb like DXDiag?

 

Make sure the monitor is hooked up to the back of the  RX-580...and not the motherboard (e.g. iGPU).

 

Be sure to restart the computer once you install the drivers for things to properly take effect.

And for the love of God, don't use the drivers included in the DVD...

I was using DXDiag, and didn't install GPU-Z. It is hooked up, but won't boot now.

 

I did try the drivers in the AMD website, when those didn't work, I tried DVD, still didn't work.

Now using GPU-Z, getting 8192MB.

Most of the time it's just me trying to tell someone Ryzen 5 1600 > i5 7600K or that Ryzen 7 > i7 8700K in streaming
