GTA 5 frame rate drops with 1080ti?

It'll be easier for us who haven't experienced this to help if you provided your full system specs.

 

That said, make sure all your drivers are up to date

Fair enough lol. Asus strix 1080ti OC, 6700k custom EKWB water cooled, Asus PG348Q (3440 1440) and an HP LP274w second monitor. Hyper x ram overclocked to 2400, 650 watt power supply (maybe the issue) Asus hero viii mobo. It could be RAM...

Test each stick and each slot individually, and hunt around to see if you have another PSU that can be tested with. Also try using your GPU with another rig, maybe a friend's to eliminate that possibility.

my monitor does 100hz, and sometimes it hits that but it drops down to like 30 odd fps and spikes back up.

How hot does your CPU and GPU get while gaming or running a benchmark?

Also how much RAM do you have?

CPU hits 60, GPU hits 50 under stress tests. 2400 RAM.

if you turn off the advanced settings in the option menu it should run much better...

Doesn't that make my GPU pointless?  After spending £750 on a GPU lol

this game is weirdly optimized...and i bet you can't tell the difference anyways...

at least lower some of them sliders if you're not turning them off completely...play with them.

Yeah your probably right. what can the "best" GPU do against a badly optimized game? my niggle is RAM. this kind of game is RAM intensive. maybe i should buy some Dominator Platinum and be done with it. thanks for your help mate.

Are you running ultra grass in settings.

that kills frame rate 

 

mid 30s sound about right in the hills

no card can handle ultra grass without frame drops

 

try getting grass to high not too much difference

Wierd, my GTX 1080 and Xeon X5680 with 1600Mhz DDR2 didn't dip down below 100FPS at 1440p.

are the settings all maxed and remember im 3440 1440 which is technically 3k not 2k.  (and it drop below 100fps lol)

Im afraid kind of make s it irrelevant in this case but thanks all the same. I have a feeling im cutting it fine with my 650w power supply having a watercolling pump,lights and fans and when im playing GTA 5 Ive got a wheel, a controller mouse and keyboard all plugged in and being used, Its not the best PS as well. definitely doesn't fit the rest of the build.(got some SICK mods installed btw. GTA5 with a wheel with force feedback h-pattern shifting, realistic speed and a realistic driving mod is next level fun)

With your current setup you shouldn't be getting anywhere near 650w. While the PSU will be under relatively heavy load when bench-marking or gaming, it shouldn't be an issue performance wise.

 

If GTAV is the only game you're running in to issues with , and these started occurring recently I would start with the following:

1.) Completely uninstall your old drivers with a program like DDU ( http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html ) and reinstall them afterwards.

2.) If this doesn't help, do the same procedure but download an older driver instead, from http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx
