I'm using the rear 3.5mm connector of my ecs h61h2-m2 and there's alot of noise when i try to record something using my mic. my mic was fine when i was using it on my old windows 7 pc. but even when i just use audacity and record nothing there's alot of noise. i tried lowering the mic level it works but now i have to really shout at my mic to make a sound and the sound boost is also off. I also noticed that when I go the enhancements tab, its just empty.. unlike when i was using my old windows 7 pc that allowed me to cancel out noise and other enhancements.. how do i fix this? i tried re-installing the audio drivers but it just doesn't work :/聽what can i do to fix this?Capture.PNG.38646812a0e8e61517b7fe9697fc41c0.PNG

I think onboard audio is generally garbage these days, get a cheap USB sound card and you wont have a problem.

you mean cheap like dirt cheap? haha like there are some usb sound cards that only costs 2usd or something. is that gonna resolve my problems? haha

When you say 'noise' is it specifically any type of noise? (a hum/buzz, cable noise, electromagnetic interference)...

What mic are you using?

Audio enhancements are dependent on the onboard chipset, so if it doesn't support any (assuming you've installed the correct drivers)聽then that's what you've got. From what i can see, the drivers are only verified up to windows 8, so they haven't been changed for a few years at this point.

Its a loud very noticeable buzz. I dont think its emi cuz it still happens when i plug it in the front. I'm using the mic they use in lapels. I used it on my old pc and its clear enough for my needs. I saw it on their site too. So the only thing left for me to do is to buy a sound card then?

Try out something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Aluminum-External-Adapter-AU-EMCB/dp/B00XM883BK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1514421995&sr=8-2&keywords=antlion+usb

Not only will it improve your mic quality but it should clear up any noise in your audio for music/gaming if your having an issue.聽聽 The other option would be to buy an entire sound interface like the focusrite. See here : https://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-Scarlett-Audio-Interface-Tools/dp/B01E6T56CM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1514422279&sr=8-3&keywords=focusrite

but if your just gaming / Skype etc the cheap usb dongle will work do your research on what one to get I was just posting that for an idea there may be better options for slightly more money but still under 20$.

Cheers!

Similar to this聽and/or this? If yes then there's EITHER:

  • A ground loop in your system (two paths to ground, with one [or more] being at non zero values). Either fixing the loop by properly grounding the whole system or a ground loop Isolator would fix that.
  • A power cable running next to the mic cable. This creates EMI at the frequency of the power (usually either 50 or 60 Hz depending on country). Solve this by moving the power cable away from the mic cable (or vice versa) or by using a balanced connection (not an option with your mic).

If it's neither of those, then one of those small USB adapters is a decent stab at fixing it, as the problem is then likely internal.

maybe i'll just get a usb adapter haha cuz there's another annoying thing in my pc. my keyboard has LED lighting and when it lights up, my speakers create a humming sound and it gets annoying lol so maybe getting a usb adapter might solve two of these problems

He is correct tho, if your cable management is very poor within your case and you have shit laying across PCB's and other components you should attempt to clean that up and blow out any excessive dust build up.聽 On top of that it just sounds like you got some bad on board audio chip that is causing a problem.聽

Let us know if the UBS dongle fixed your issue!

cheers

That is 100% EMI. If you try routing the cable to the speakers separately from the usb for the keyboard that interference should disappear.

If your mic cable is next to the power cable for your PC, or other usb cables, try routing it differently. It's fine to cross at right-angles just don't run them next to each other.
