Freesync VS G-sync

Nik Balor

what's the difference between Freesync & G-sync ?

Freesync has a connectivity advantage through Freesync over HDMI . While Nvidia has integrated ultra low motion blur ( ULMB ) , but the main downside to ( ULMB ) is that it can't be used in conjunction with G-sync. in other words, you need to choose between variable refresh rates withought stuttering and tearing, or high clarity and low motion blur. so which is better? or what would make anyone choose one over the other ?!

They both do pretty much the same, but freesync is a whole lot cheaper on the monitor side. If you already have a NVIDIA GPU freesync won't work for you, if you have an AMD GPU gsync won't work for you. So unless you want to buy a new GPU that pretty much determines your choice.

G-sync adds like 200$ on monitor price, while freesync is a budget option.

if you go for midrange gpu like gtx 1060 or rx 580 you should totaly go with amd and get freesync monitor.

But if you want something more powerful like 1070 or 1080 I don't think it's even worth to choose amd because there is still no cards  priced at msrp(Vega)  so you pay premium because of miners so you could just get NVIDIA GPU and G-sync monitor

G sync works better, but adds like $300 to the monitor price, where as Freesync works pretty well and is free to implement

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

They are practically the same its just G-sync has wider Sync range usually around 30-Max refresh rate whereas amd free-sync is around 45-Max refresh rate but of course check the manufacturer website for the Adaptive sync range.

A lot of people claimed that G-sync work better as well i am not sure about it cause i havent use G-sync because they are expensive.

As for that question i'd choose Adaptive sync.

Sure u got more clarity and crispier image but u will still get tearing which really bothered me

AMD solutions is great and the price is significantly less than NVidia's solution on the "sync" department. you will need to consider for AMD GPUs tho that will be sufficient for your needs and then you can buy a Freesync monitor that's high end (example 144Hz @1440p). if you opt for nVidia, you will just have to do the same thing with just opposite brand
