How much should I expect to pay for a copy of Windows 10?

sdrozza

I am concerned with the glaring difference of price between Microsoft's own site (£100) and other ones at about £20

OEM Keys are cheaper because they do not include support, and are not usually available to the end user.  Certain middle-man companies buy OEM keys and resell to end users, making you the OEM in Microsoft's eyes if you ever need support.

I've used plenty of keys for both windows and office from certain sites that sell just the keys for $10-30, haven't had any issues yet.  The biggest difference is that it's an oem key, so when you activate windows with it, it's "burned". It creates a unique "hash type code" specific to your hardware, so if you reinstall windows, it'll already be activated, but you won't ever be able to use it on another pc.

Legit keys are the expensive ones. Others are violating MS ToS and ripped off volume packs.
