Mass Effect Andromeda abysmal performance

So i finaly decided to start playing Andromeda since now i have proper free time, but to my shock its utterly unplayble, i have lagg and stutter in start menu screen alone, when i enter the game im getting incredible stuttering, lagg, freeze ups for several seconds, frame skipping, fps all over the place. Im quite speechless, WTF is going on ? My PC should be running it without issue.

Do the usual DDU and reinstall drivers. Maybe even reinstall OS. I played it during the trial and it ran fine for me, and that was back when I still had an i5

And as far as I know, this game runs better on Nvidia GPUs

The game is demanding but your issues sound more than just an unstable fps, so I'll echo the clean and reinstall drivers advice.

With a GTX 1080 at 4K my fps was all over. I ended up lowering some settings and capping to 30 fps to get some stability. Also used the resolution scale to 90% to raise the lows to a better level. I was insistent on 4K to the detriment of everything during this time since that's what I got the 1080 for. Though now I don't think 4K is a big deal so I'm curious how stable I could hit 60 fps at 1080p. But the game is meh, so I don't know if I'll ever bother to replay to see.

Little new development, i was still screwing around while playing in prologue level and after couple of minutes of stutter, freezing game becomes stable and very playable, i have the sense game is still loading files or something on RAM or OS pagefile when level barely starts, 8 GB maybe isnt enough for stable performance ? However Andromeda is just 50 or something GB in size and isnt open world like GTA V which is bigger game but a game that i run without major issues. Unless gamefiles on HDD are compressed or something to make size smaller.

All and all i think its not drivers issue and i have zero problemos with oher games i have.

As far as i know GTX 1060 should be an Nvidia GPU

I have a similar species machine. I5 4460 with RX480 4gb gpu with 16 gb ddr3 1600 ram. I play at ultra settings at 1080P keeping my monitor maxed at its 60 fps cap. I only dip down in fps if something kicks on in the background. But I can tell you that it uses about 8 gigs of ram majority of the time when the game is running. So you might be throttling due to your 8 gb of ram.

AMD Ryzen 2600

Asus ROG B450f gaming Mobo

Nvidia rtx 3080 max-p

Have you tried reducing some of the graphical settings?

Out of curiosity, how does it play if you set everything to the minimum?

I still get same stuttery mess, it simply lasts for much less time before it becomes playable.

Yeah, I played the game with HWinfo/rivatuner stats on and I vaguely recall it eating up RAM more than other games I have. I'm not really sure, but maybe tone down the texture and maybe level of detail? I'm not sure if that only helps out clear memory on the graphics cards vs the main system RAM.

I tried going all Medium settings, turned off AA, blur, grain and chromatic trash, using 32 bit buffer, but still even after the files are loaded upon initial luanch with the worse lagg settled down, i am still getting very annoying fps chugs, micro freezes, slow downs when moving thru levels and loading up new sections, how can it eat up so much RAM is beyond me, just last year i played Mirrors Edge Catalyst same Frostbite 3 game with equal or better visuals and it ran just fine with my 8 GB RAM

The game runs pretty rough during cutscenes, lots of stuttering and pop-in, even on a 1080ti at 1440p.  One of the biggest killers of performance is depth of field, turn that down.  I think it's shadows after that, iirc.  Check out some of the performance guides out there, they will tell you what settings have the most impact.

Turning off DoF didnt add any gains for me sadly.
