1080 Ti is really the only card if you want no compromises, if you're willing to go medium setting and such the 1070 Ti of VEGA 64 would be enough.

Hi - Im thinking of getting a card that will run Ultra setting on most games

I'm running at 2560 x 1440p   144 hz  refresh rate

Asus ROG swift 278Q monitor

I7 8700K - 4.7 OC , Asrock Z370 Extreme4 MB, MSI GTX 970 ,  NZXT H440 , Corsair H110 , 16gig Balistix ram  , Razer Huntsman Elite - Razer Purple Opto-Mechanical Key Switches  -   , Logitech G502 , Samsung 850 Pro bootup drive, Antec Edge 750 modular PSU

My suggestion. Wait for Volta if you want 144 frames on ultra at 2k resolution thats your only option it will be here pretty soon or you van buy titan for 3000€ of course but that would be dumb for gaming so please just wait or get your expectetaions lower think 120fps on high

just get the best card you can afford, 1440p at 144 fps is a lot and depending on what games you play may require the best GPU available

Volta probably won't be as extraordinary as some thought, given that we have the 1080ti, the most powerful gaming card on the market.

thanx for all the help guys - i think the wisest choice is to wait a few months and see what the volta performs like - then I'm sure the 1080 ti will drop in price so it's win - win both ways  :)

If you intend to use G-Sync, which you should, anything that can muster above 60fps in the games you play will be fine.

I use a 980 on my G-Sync monitor and don't have problems playing most games.
