Go to solution Solved by Hiya!,

No the speed will get lowered to SATA because your laptop doesnt support NVME and Optical Caddy are connected to SATA port just buy Regular SATA SSD along with those HDD Optical bay port or whatever that name is.

U wont be able to tell the difference between those 2 for basic daily use anyway.

i have a hp pavlion notebook (15-AU084TX) which comes with 1 TB HDD. Now, i have been thinking of upgrading my notebook with samsung 960 evo NVME ssd but the board does not have a dedicated m.2 port.
now, the dilemma i am facing is that can i use a caddy for m.2 to optical disk bay port and put my ssd there , will it give the same performance it would have given on a m.2 port or the other option i should go with a sata III ssd ? help please :)

Definetly not, for M.2 to SATA you need SATA M.2 SSD, 960 Pro would not work at all.

It's fixed, I don't post much so I didn't think I'll need the profile pic! :)

I think with a name like that, the profile pic is a necessity xD
