Should i use the fan headers on the asus gtx 1080 ti strix?

zZoKo

Ill build a pc next week with the i7 8700k and 1080 ti strix oc, the mobo that i choose is asus z370f and the fans are 2x Be quiet silent wings 3 (140mm) in front, 1x be quiet silent wings 3 (140mm) on the top and last 1x be quiet silent wings 3 (120mm) on the back, all 4 are PWM, the case for build is also s340 razer edition. My motherboard has only 2 fan headers so i was wondering whether i should connect the top and back fans to the mobo headers and the other 2 front fans to the gpu, or should i rather buy 2 fan splitters? which would be best for airflow and noise?

ps: the 1080 ti strix has 2 pwm fan headers on the right side, i havent seen other gpu's with fan headers for cases so it might be a unique feature

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: here's a link to the pc https://pcpartpicker.com/list/D2vYVY

If the fans being connected to it are gonna control the fresh air for the card or to exhaust the air from the card I'd do it. Gonna need it for that's card especially if the load isn't on the CPU enough to spin yhit fans up and keep the card cool.

the gpu will be colder than the cpu so im just a bit worried for the fans not spinning when cpu is hot but gpu isnt

Exactly, so use speed fan and figure out that head ache or just plug some fans into the gpu. Or use it to control a fan hub with them all plugged in.

If you plug them into the motherboard they will follow your set motherboard/cpu fan settings and if you plug them in to your graphics card it will follow your set graphic card fan settings.

Do you want the card to run hot as hell?

i think you misunderstood me im talking about the case fans not the gpu fans, i was asking whether i should connect my case fans to it too because i dont have enough headers on motherboard and im not a fan of splitters, the gpu has its own fans for cooling (3 of them to be accurate)

So do you want those fans to run off the gpu? You don't have a choice if you don't use a splitter. So pointless to ask use what to do if you wont do it. Plug them in the card and be done.

i can use splitters, its just that i dont like them as much, i was asking this because i never plugged fans into a gpu and wanted to see if the gpu would control the fans speed as good as the motherboard..

It will control them the same way any anything else will. Based off the fan profile you make from the gpu. The exact same way the mobo does for the cpu.
