Ideally you'd want it blowing right at the rear exhaust fan, but as it is it sounds like you didn't mount it properly or something.

Hello! So I just bought a new CPU i7-7700K, but when at heavy load it's at 80-90 C. When i'm idle it's at 40-50 C. Is this safe? Thanks

You're getting pretty damn close to thermal limit, so not really safe. What cooler are you using, exactly?

They mean the cooler is not making correct contact with the CPU likely. (likely due to not fastening the screws that attaches the cooler to the motherboard correctly).

Or you used not enough thermal paste.

Or you forgot to take the plastic protection foil off of the cooler before installing.

That being said, I don't think 80-90C is that much of a problem. The CPU will throttle itself to slow down before it would ever damage itself/. So the chance of damaging it is 0. Intel CPU's can function up to around 100C before they start to throttle.

Are you overclocking/overvolting it? In that case, 80-90C is not out of the ordinary, although ideally you want to stay around 75C or lower.
