Hey guys! I'm new to the forum, and this is my first build:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2in73

- For now, I'll be using the ( dreaded ) stock cooler for the CPU, and then later after I get enough cash to suffice, I'll purchase an aftermarket water cooler ( Corsair or Kraken? ).

- Need some advice for a monitor

- Windows 7 or 8?

Thanks for the reply. I'm from the US. As the title says, this will mainly be used for gaming, but really nothing more. My budget at the moment is capped at 1.3K, so once I get a bit more cash, I'll go buy a keyboard, monitor, OS, and a mass storage hard drive ( WD Blue Caviar 1TB 64MB Cache). I already know my brother bought me a mouse for Christmas, and I already have a Steelseries Headset.  Either one of CM's or TteSports'. I'm pretty sure one of my buddies just got that Korean monitor, so I guess I'll get that one too.

This is what I would do.

  1. Boost up the i5 to the i7.
  2. Drop the 770 for a 280x. The 280x has a slightly better performance and a great price point.
  3. Switched the PSU for a better brand (imo) with a better price.
  4. If I was you I would get a CPU cooler as well. (I can suggest a few if you wanted.)

The i7 is out of my budget and both Newegg and NCIX are out of stock on all of their 280X's, and I don't really feel like ordering from 3 different places.  I'll check out the EVGA PSU though. Like I said in one of my previous posts', water cooling will be soon to come.

Are you planning to sli?

Is it 1.3k for everything including the monitor?

Not planning on SLI ( yet ). I actually bought all my parts except for a monitor last night, so the total came to $1,266.00. I bought a TteSports Meka G Unit Illuminated on amazon for 90 bucks as well. Until I have enough funds for a decent monitor, I'll be using an older Samsung 23"

I mean planing in the future. Unless you're sure you will, you probably won't. Most people who plan to sli don't.

Anyway since you already have your parts, enjoy your rig.
