DP showing as VGA

A few times I have found my Nvidia control panel showing VGA connection instead of displayport. I have a benQ xl2420g connected to a GTX 970 via Dp cable.

I did a quick google but there was not much there, I was wondering if anybody else has had this before or knows what it could be.

Yeah it shows model correctly.

latest NVidia driver? is it limited to only 1 dp connector/cable?

Not on the the latest driver, Im on 388.13 from oct 30. This issue is on and off for a few months now with different drivers. I have also changed ports but have not changed cables, I only have one at the moment.
