So how bad is the BLB of my monitors? Enough to return?

Hey guys. I'm no expert but can you guys check this for me? I set up my monitors and decided to check the bleed. And I honestly don't know enough to make judgment.

Help!

It's hard to judge from pictures since I'm used to seeing my monitors in real life and not in a photo, but to me that looks horrendous

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

are those IPS panels because if so I could be IPS glow that is really what it looks like.

#3 and #2 are IPS. #1 is VA.

my apologies. I'm not sure how to exactly "test" it for others as well.

You'd have to decide yourself if you are ok with it or not.  I get the feeling if you're posting on a forum about it that you're on the fence, leaning towards "no".

Also, odds are these aren't just a fluke; they are probably a decent representation of what that model looks like, so if you don't like it, you'll probably need to find a different model of monitor rather than just exchanging for another of the same kind

Do you notice it when you're using the monitor normally, or only on a black screen?

If it's the latter, then it's IPS glow, something all IPS monitors have. Black light bleed is the former, and is a legitimate issue.

Yeah, there's LOT of different things to consider when choosing a monitor.  Most people look at resolution, framerate, and response time, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.  Back light bleed (which itself comes in many forms and goes by many names, including but not limited to IPS glow, flashlighting, etc.) is just one of those other factors.  Then of course there's colour gamut and accuracy, contrast, brightness, viewing angles, uniformity (brightness and colour, etc.), and a ton of other things.  If you look at any really detailed review, they will go over everything you could possibly care about, and better yet, if the site offers reviews on many monitors, including some you are familiar with and some you are considering, it can give you a much better idea what you're getting into.

I did look into reviews and all were well received. But maybe I'm just being paranoid and should sleep on it. Lol

It's easy to get carried away and start looking for the best of everything which of course you can have... for a price xD
